The Estepona Town Council has approved the free transfer  to the Ministry of the Interior of a plot of land for the construction of the future National Police Station.

To contribute to the improvement of the current facilities the Council is going to make available to the central Government a 4,159 square metre piece of land on Calle Latvia, which is located in the Las Mesas area, next to the land where the planned construction of the Law Courts will be, which will bring together all the judicial headquarters of the town in one area.

The Town Hall has approved the change of use of the plot that is going to be transferred to the Ministry of the Interior. At present, it is designated for public assistance facilities in the General Urban Plan (PGOU). To enable the construction of the future Police Station, the Council will carry out the procedures for it to have an administrative use.

The Ministry has already ruled on the suitability of said site for the new Police Station, which will replace the current facilities, which present significant shortcomings.
