The Estepona Council has expanded the town’s Poetry Route with the addition of verses of ‘Marinero en tierra’ by the Cadiz poet Rafael Alberti. This poem, which can be read on the plaque installed in Calle Genalguacil, brings to 40 the number of works that can be enjoyed by pedestrians in the old town.

The Councillor for the Sociocultural area, Begoña Ortiz, said that this cultural project, which began in 2012, has been enriched with poets of various nationalities and eras. “From now on, our Poetry Route incorporates one of the main representatives of the Generation of 27 with a poem dedicated to the sea, which is especially important to our town,” Ortiz continued.

In addition to the plaque with the verses of ‘Marinero en tierra’, a bust of Rafael Alberti has been installed paying tribute to a creator who was part of the also well-known ‘Silver Generation’.
